"Becks’ romantic surprise
Seeing David Beckham in a pair of shorts always makes us feel a little faint, but as we watch England take on Sweden tonight, we’ll be feeling even weaker and wobblier than usual. The reason? Becks has melted our hearts with a fresh display of devotion to his wife Victoria. The world’s fittest footballer (sorry, Wayne and Peter) surprised his missus by organising a romantic renewal of vows ceremony at their Madrid home, just days before the World Cup.
David went to great lengths to make the occasion special, arranging for white flowers to be floating in the swimming pool and hanging lanterns from the trees. Sigh. A friend told the Mail on Sunday: “It was a very intimate ceremony witnessed by Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. David was dressed in white and said, after the whole Rebecca Loos scandal, he had fallen head over heels in love with Victoria again.
“David keeps saying how they are getting on better since they moved into their home in Madrid. They are truly operating like a solid family, and their renewed vows are a celebration of being able to spend the rest of their lives together.”
The ceremony, which was also attended by the Beckhams’ new middle-aged nanny and her husband, proved to be an emotional occasion for Becks, who shed a few tears (presumably of joy). Altogether now: aaaah.
But it’s not all hearts and flowers in the land of Beckham. According to reports, Victoria is locked in a secret battle with Coleen McLoughlin over fears that the young pretender could steal her crown as the ultimate footballer’s wife. Insiders say Posh feels threatened by Coleen’s rising status as a fashion icon, and tensions are said to be running high between the pair during England’s World Cup campaign in Germany.
“It’s true Victoria’s a bit miffed that Coleen has become the media’s new fashion darling,” a source told Star magazine. “But she has been able to pull in favours from the likes of Roberto Cavalli and Donatella Versace to stay that crucial step ahead.” Isn’t it nice to have friends in high places, eh Posh?"
